Children's Village

Vision:

One in which individuals from diverse backgrounds in the Mississippi Delta work collaboratively to assure the optimal growth and development of all children in the region.

Mission:

To create and maintain family, school and community norms, practices and environments which supports and foster the growth, development and positive socialization of children in the Delta.

The Children's Village is one of five (5) Children's Village located in the Mississippi Delta, under the Heading of Mississippi Delta Children's Partnership.  Cary Children's Village is a after school and summer program focused on enrichment of children's language development, academic performance, social (problem solving), cognitive development and cultural heritage.  Each child's language proficiency is assessed upon enrollment.  The children are viewed in the context of their family.


Parental engagement is a vital part of Children's Village and provides parents, grandparents and guardians with a support structure for exploring and enhancing their parenting knowledge, skills and practices.  Thought the use of Appreciative inquiry, parents share their experiences, hopes and dreams for their children by using a component called the family circle.  Local strengths are mobilized through social strategies and the use of natural helpers.
